The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has proposed revoking authorization for the use of brominated vegetable oil (BVO) in food. This action is part of FDA oversight of food ingredients, including re-evaluating previously approved substances and addressing safety concerns for food. BVO is a vegetable oil modified with bromine, the autorizhation in small quantities to prevent the separation of citrus flavor in some beverages. Read more here
